We've seen the offering from Lycos, makelovenotspam which is no longer available, and the more recent software aimed at 419ers entitled the mugu marauder. So what next, Spampires want you to pay to download software which has the same intention as the previous two. The blurb:
"You can make spammers pay and make their millions of junk mails backfire on them. While you are using Spampires®, it does the job for you, with no effort on your part. You see it runs in the background and does your "dirty work" for you. You don't even have to look at the junk mail pages it opens. All you see is a little icon showing you that it's working for you. Spampires will work on any type of operating system and works with all types of internet connections. It won't slow you down when your surfing the internet or working online."
Which is then followed by:
"You may think we're crazy but after all of the time and research put into this, you can get Spampires and Start Making The Spammers Pay for only $29.95 - $ 7.77"
So in short, you are expected to pay nearly $8 for vigilante spam software to get your own back on spammers. We thought the whole point in a program or project like this was to get stacks of users onboard, not charge them and make a quick buck to use some proprietary software which could infact be doing anything.
Then comes the conspiracy theory that the program could infact be made by a spammer, so in your valant vigilante efforts you are lining the pocket of the enemy. Whilst we don't disagree with Spampires intentions should this really be something joe public should be paying for?
